Step 1: If you purchased Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 on a disc, then the installation process starts automatically after the Setup disc is inserted into the CD-ROM drive. If you have purchased the product in E-Store you get a link to an executable setup file which should be launched manually. If the Setup disc does not run automatically you also need to run the executable installation file manually. For it select a disc and a folder where Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 setup file is located and double-click the executable file. (10743, 11162) There was a crash related to processing of attachment names. On certain types of filename attribute encodings, the decoding was not done correctly and could lead to crash - after which the watchdog would restart the service.
(11163) Problem with folded headers parsing. As a result the content filtering by attachment name was malfunctioning in some cases.

If you use a local Unix socket for KAVMilter filter, Sendmail may refuse to start if the path has group/world writable directories.

The backup-sweeper.sh utility will report backup size only when reaching warning or critical limits.
If installed Webmin is older than 1.150 version, or uses the extra_root for installing other modules, you might get some warning at install time (or when kavmilter-setup.sh is called with -add-webmin-module.) You can safely ignore them, as the setup script attemps a workaround, but you should check afterwards if the module was correctly installed.

If you have a copy of Kaspersky on CD:
Uninstall any other Anti-Virus programs you may have installed on your PC, including earlier versions of Kaspersky Anti-Virus, using the "Add/Remove Programs" option in your Control Panel. You may to restart your PC after doing this.
Insert your CD copy of Kaspersky Anti-Virus into your CD drive
When the CD menu opens, select the option to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus. This will begin the installation process. From there, simply follow the prompts. At the end of the installation process you will need to restart your PC to complete your Kaspersky installation. After restarting, you should update your AV bases straight away (make sure you're connected to the internet first)
If you do not have a copy of Kaspersky on CD:
Your license key file would probably have been sent to you as an attachment to an email in a format similar to '0008E54C.key'. Save the attached license key file to e temporary location on your PC, such as your 'Desktop' or your 'My Documents' folder.
Visit the downloads section of kaspersky.com.au or kaspersky.com to download the product you're after. For further instructions on this, go to article Q10025.
Uninstall any other Anti-Virus programs you mayhave installed on your PC, including earlier versions of Kaspersky Anti-Virus, using the "Add/Remove Programs" option in your Control Panel. You may have to restart your PC

Summary:
This article describes how to manually install or replace a license key file into one of the above currently installed products, version 5.0 or later.
Information:
Your license key file probably came to you as an attachment in an email. It will be in a format similar to "0008E54C.key". Save the license key file to a temporary location on your PC, such as your desktop or 'My Documents' folder. There are two methods below for installing your license key file. Method 2 can be used on all releases of the above Kaspersky products. Method 1 can only be used with KAV Personal and Personal Pro v5.0.388 or later.
Method 1:
Click on the Start button in the bottom left hand corner of your screen, and then Programs.
From the programs listing select Kaspersky Anti-Virus and then select Install license key item from the group menu.
In the window that opens, click on the 'Browse' button, and browse to the location where you temporarily saved your license keyfile.
Select the new license keyfile and click on 'Open' or 'OK' (whichever is applicable).
Method 2:
Open the Kaspersky program and go to the "Support" page.
Click on the link that says "License keys" or "Add license keys". This will open the Add Key facility.
Click on the "Add" button, browse to the location where you temporarily saved your new license key file.
Select the new license key file and then click on "Open". You should now see your new licens

To do so, change the mailft user to kluser in the master.cf configuration file after installation and configuration of the products.

What's New:
Groups Configuration - now you can setup custom policies by defining Senders/Recipients rules. The following sections are now configured by group: actions, filter, notifications and backup. A group has also a 'definition' section, where you have to specify a unique priority and matching Senders/Recipients rules. Once a message matches both senders and recipients specified, the group is selected. If several groups can be selected only the one with the highest priority is finally chosen. Additionally, in 'settings' section you can configure ScanPolicy, AddXHeader and AddDisclaimer by group.
SNMP Services - by enabling this feature, you can query KAVMilter for config keywords, for statistics counters and administrative information (updates and application status.) Any of the enabled SNMP functionality will make kavmilter act like a sub-agent, talking to a master agent via AgentX. The possibility of querying statistics counter can be combined with RRDTool or MRTG to fetch and store the data, and then create some expressive graphs on KAVMilter activity.
SNMP Traps - this release includes support for SNMP traps, namely notifications triggered by application events. You can get notified when the application was started or stopped, a new update was done and bases were reloaded, or the configuration was reloaded. Note that for using AlertThreshold trap you must enable message statistics.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.5 for Microsoft ISA Server 2004 Enterprise Edition (hereafter referred to as Kaspersky Anti-Virus) provides anti-virus protection of objects transferred using the HTTP and FTP protocols via the firewall and proxy server.
Important installation notes:
Kaspersky Anti-Virus can be installed only on array servers that belong to a Microsoft Windows 2003 domain. All array members must authenticate on the configuration server (ISA Configuration Storage Server) using their domain accounts. Kaspersky Anti-Virus cannot work on array servers connected to the configuration server via SSL.
To install Kaspersky Anti-Virus, the user must have local administrator and domain administrator rights. The user also should have rights to administer the server array on which the application is installed.
On all array members, install the application to the same folder, for example, Ñ:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-virus for ISA Server 2004. This is due to the limitations of Microsoft ISA Server on the installation path for Web filters.
Known issues:
A situation is possible, when Kaspersky Anti-Virus configuration does not affect ISA Servers immediately after setup. Therefore, you are advised to restart the service of Kaspersky Anti-Virus manually after setup completion and synchronization with the Configuration Server of Microsoft ISA Server 2004 Enterprise Edition.

In Kaspersky Security Suite, Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal and Kaspersky Anti-Spam Personal will, by default, attempt to update automatically, as long as the computer is connected to the internet (If you have a dial up connection, it will not automatically connect for you). By default, KAV Personal will attempt to update every 3 hours, and Kaspersky Anti-Spam Personal will attempt to update once daily. You can change the frequency with which each product performs automatic updates. You can also launch the updaters for each product manually at any time.
Kaspersky Anti-Hacker does not require updates.

Summary:
This article describes how to re-enable the Kaspersky Anti-Spam toolbar in MS Outlook after it has been disabled.
Information:
Open Outlook. Go to Tool -> Options and click on the 'Other' tab.
Click on 'Advanced Options' and when the dialog box opens, select 'Add-In Manager'.
In the Add-In Manager, make sure "SpamTest" is enabled. Click OK.
You must also make sure that 'Anti-Spam.dll' is not present in the disabled items list. To check, and re-enable:
In Outlook, go to Help -> About Microsoft Outlook and click on 'Disabled Items...'
If 'Anti-Spam.dll' is present in the list, select it a click on 'Enable'. Than close the dialog box(es).

This article describes the corrections and enhancements addressed with the release of KAV for Samba Servers v5.0.4.0 Maintenance Pack 4 release.
ATTENTION those upgrading earlier installed versions of the product.
Since the upgrade replaces shared libraries, please make sure that kavsamba and Samba server are stopped and unloaded from memory before upgrading.
Corrections:
An error in the name of reload_avbase parameter has been corrected in init.d/rc.d scripts
Enhancements:
Added support for Samba 3.0.20 and 3.0.20a.
AV base consistency and operability check technology has been introduced to the AV-database update module along with some other innovations.

Known Issues:
Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 has a bug in Webmin 1.180-3 which prevents work with 3rd party modules. Thus it is impossible to use a Webmin module included in the KAV for Samba Server distribution. There are the following workarounds for this issue:
Install original version of Webmin from www.webmin.com
Execute the following commands after installation of KAV for Samba Server:
cp /usr/local/share/webmin/kavsamba/config /etc/webmin/kavsamba/config

I am trialing the personal security suite and finding it quite effective against online threats, but have a problem running a full virus scan on my pc.Twice today it got to around 53% during the scan and abruptly stopped then rebooted my computer, just wondering what might be causing this?

This is not a simple question to answer, and the rebooting may have a number of causes. Viewing the details of the report for that task may provide some clues. Either send us a copy of the report or contact our support line on 1300 780 256.
To send a copy of the report, open KAV and on the Protection tab click on "Reports" (sometimes displayed as "View Reports". In the task log, right click on the most recent entry for 'Scan My Computer'. When the shortcut menu opens, select the Export to a file option to save the report. Then email us the report file to support@kaspersky.com.au.
